The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a non-profit association that regulates athletes of 1,281 institutions and helps more than 450,000 college student-athletes who compete annually in college sports.

Division I
  • Largest Athletic budget and offers most generous scholarships
  • 350 colleges with a total of 170,000 student-athletes
  • Extremely competitive
  • Need 16 core courses from high school to be eligible
  • Need a minimum high school GPA of 2.3
Division II
  • Not as large of a budget as DI, but still offers scholarships 
  • 300 colleges
  • Highly competitive
  • Need 14 core courses from high school to be eligible
  • Need a minimum high school GPA of 2.0
Division III
  • Largest NCAA division with 450 schools
  • Does not offer athletic scholarships
  • Least competitive
  • Pushes student-athletes
